Preparatory work gets underway today Dornach - Reconvilier, 24 February 2006 With yesterday's bringing to an end of the unlawful situation resulting from the strike and occupation of the Reconvilier production site, ongoing since <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />25 January 2006, the first steps towards efficiently organizing production and supply capabilities are being taken today.
Getting supplies to customers as soon as possible has top priority. To achieve this, Swissmetal is making additional capacity available over the next few weeks in order to speed up the delivery of products from the stock of finished goods at Reconvilier. Further preparatory work is required before the plant itself can go back into production, including a clean up of the site, which is already underway, as well as planning production and capacity under the new operating conditions that pertain. A start has also been made in this area today.
Yesterday, the striking workers at Reconvilier accepted by majority vote the proposal put forward by Rolf Bloch on 21 February 2006, thus smoothing the way for normal business operations to recommence at Reconvilier. |
