Swissmetal demands an end to the work stoppage and refuses to negotiate with the strikers – Consultation procedure with the employees and their representative bodies at Dornach in accordance with CLA brought to a close Dornach - Reconvilier, 27 January 2006
Swissmetal considers the walkout by workers at the Reconvilier plant to represent a brazen violation of the collective labour agreement. Management demands that all employees return to work immediately and is not prepared to respond to the strikers' plea for negotiations while the stoppage at the plant continues. The 27 planned redundancies will go ahead at the end of the month now that agreement has been reached in the consultation procedure with the employee representative bodies at Dornach, which was brought to a successful close yesterday. A redundancy package (social plan) has been agreed. Negotiations with the employee representative bodies at Reconvilier have been suspended owing to the strike. The accusations by UNIA that Swissmetal failed to comply with the provisions of the collective labour agreement (CLA) regarding the consultation procedure are without merit. |
