Swissmetal regrets UNIA's stance on round table Dornach - Reconvilier, 1 February 2006 The UNIA trade union has today made its acceptance of Swissmetal's invitation to take part in a round table discussion with representatives of the employer and employee associations and Swissmetal management contingent on conditions that are already expressly excluded in the invitation. Swissmetal very much regrets that UNIA is clearly unwilling to accept the invitation without attaching conditions and is not prepared to develop a better understanding of the various viewpoints by taking part in a constructive exchange of information and open dialogue. Swissmetal had expressly stated in its invitation that management was not willing to enter into negotiations or discussions on Swissmetal's strategy and reorganization at the round table. Under the current circumstances Swissmetal does not believe there is any basis for the round table discussions it attempted to initiate yesterday.
Swissmetal is willing to resume talks with the employee representative body and works council subject to an immediate resumption of work. |
